Artifacts and ancestral remains

The land that now encompasses Georgia is, and was, home to a rich and diverse array of Native peoples spanning unbroken thousands of years, from the first inhabitants to modern day tribes. This cultural heritage is evidenced by archaelogical sites across the state, and reflected in part by artifacts and human remains. These items and ancestral remains reflect the deeply held beliefs and funeral practices of Native peoples, and contribute positively to our shared appreciation of the human experience.
