Altman is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Georgia Southern University in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology. She is a member of the Society for Applied Anthropology, The American Anthropological Association, and The Southern Anthropological Society. Altman earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Florida State University, and a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of California at Davis. She has one son who is a student at Georgia Tech.
