Census Data Map

How to Navigate the Interactive Map of Georgia State Senate and House Districts.

Click the white box with an arrow in the upper left corner of the map to select which “layer” you would like to view.

View Map Layers (Senate and House Districts):

  • On the left-hand side of the screen, you’ll see a menu with three key layers:
    - Georgia State Senate Districts
    - Georgia State House of Representative Districts
    - Georgia Congressional Districts: 118th Congress
  • Each layer contains district boundaries, and each district shows the number of American Indian/Alaska Native residents from the 2020 U.S. Census.
  • Click the checkbox next to each layer’s name to toggle it on or off:
    - Turning on a layer will display the districts on the map.
    - Turning off a layer will remove the district boundaries for that layer.

Explore District Data:

  • Click on any district on the map (from either the Senate or House layers) or on the left-hand side to show the number of American Indians/Alaska Natives residing in that district according to 2020 U.S. Census data. Data will show on the left-hand side of the screen.

Zoom In and Out:

  • Use the + and – buttons in the bottom-right corner to zoom in and out of the map for a closer or broader view of the districts.
  • You can also use your mouse scroll wheel or pinch/expand on a touchscreen device for zooming.

Move Around the Map:

  • Click and drag the map to navigate across different regions of Georgia.

Search for a Specific District:

  • Use the dropdown list on the left-hand side of the page or search bar at the top of the page to find a specific district by entering the district number.
  • When the search result appears, click on it to be taken directly to the corresponding location on the map.

Switch Between Map Views:

  • In the bottom-left corner, click the "Satellite" box to switch from the default map view to a satellite imagery view, giving you a more detailed look at the geography. Click the "Map" box to switch back to the standard district view.

Examine District Boundaries:

  • You can toggle between viewing the Senate and House district boundaries by clicking the corresponding layer on and off. This helps compare how the districts overlap and differ in geographic regions.
